Nintendo E3 2014 Press Conference Roundup

AMIIBO! - Bless you!? Nintendo may not have had an official press conference, but they sure showed a lot at their Nintendo Direct stream, take a look!

Super Smash Bros - Nintendo opened the stream with an epic duel between the company executives, Iwata the CEO of Nintendo and COO of Nintendo America, Reggie, they then moved this fight into Super Smash Bros. They announced that Miis will now be playable in  the game, there will be 3 types of fighters; brawlers, swordfights and gunners. This allows for a total of  36 special moves, the equivalent to 9 regular fighters. They also showcased a montage of new gameplay modes.

Unfortunately, the 3DS version has been delayed until October 3rd, 2014

However, perhaps the most important announcement is the inclusion of Amiibo, Nintendo’s entry into the Toys-to-Life genre (consisting namely of, Skylanders and Disney Infinity). More on that later though!

Yoshi’s Woolly World - From Good-Feel, developers of Kirby’s Epic Yarn comes Yoshi’s Woolly World! The platformer was shown to have a ‘hand crafted’, textile-themed art style and the developers stressed that, due to the games more relaxed, un-timed nature, the platformer allows for exploration of the fabric based world.

His tongue is the most powerful weapon”

Yoshi’s Woolly World will feature co-op multiplayer, which will enable players to overcome greater challenges and obstacles. For example, one Yoshi may swallow another Yoshi and spit it out to reach new locations. Releasing 2015!

Captain Toad : Treasure Tracker - Captain Toad, of Super Mario 3D World fame, gets his very own platformer! The spin-off is coming to the WiiU this holiday season and will also feature some first-person perspective gameplay using the WiiU Gamepad, have fun looking at everyone’s knees!

Legend of Zelda - Nintendo announced the future of the Zelda series, showing a breathtaking open world, with a beautiful graphical art style, unlike anything seen in the franchise before. The game will feature a variety of monsters to fight including large bosses like the one shown in the trailer. Like most gamed shown by Nintendo, the year 2015 was attached.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
Hoenn confirmed! Well it was confirmed a while a go to the glee of many Pokemon fans however now we have release dates. Available in Japan and America on November 21st and November 28th in Europe. Pokemon ORAS as they’re abbreviated, will feature new the Pokemon X and Y styled gameplay of a full 3D world complete with 3D battles and new character models for both the playable characters and the Pokemon.

The game looks to be a full remake of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with Mega Evolution featured in game with a collection of new Mega Evolution Pokemon such as Mega Swampert that looks like he took a bunch of steroids and Mega Sceptile, It’s been confirmed that the new models for Kyogre and Groudon are not Mega Evolutions but instead are Primal forms of the Pokemon which will most likely be included in the story something not featured in the original games.

Bayonetta 2 -  Platinum Game’s Bayonetta 2 will be launching in a flurry of heels, hair and clothing in October 2014, exclusively on the Wii U. It was announced that Bayonetta 2 will also contain the original Bayonetta, just to sweeten the deal, it’s worth noting that the original Bayonetta only released for PS3 and Xbox 360.
Several Nintendo cross-over costumes were also teased, including Link, Princess Peach and Samus Aran.

Hyrule Warriors - Launching September 26th, Hyrule Warriors is a hot collaboration between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei, the developers of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. The gameplay shown was very much of Dynasty Warriors style, however, it will feature giant bosses and 2 player mode in which one player uses the TV as their screen and the second player uses the Gamepad. Key Zelda characters will be playable including; Link, Zelda, Impa and Midna.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was shown briefly featuring the classic Kirby side scrolling along with a new colorful art style featuring Rainbow’s which the user can draw using the touch screen on the Wii U Gamepad and have Kirby run along them to reach his destination. The game is coming out for the Wii U with no official release date mentioned.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Xenoblade Chronicles X was shown featuring a lot of Japanese, Mechs and Spaceships.... The trailer featured what I assume is something to do with the story however it’s was all in Japanese and while there were English subtitles it was hard to follow among the mix of explosions and vague Japanese phrases I was trying to remember what they mean.

The game is coming exclusively for the Wii U with yet another unannounced release date.

Mario Maker - Coming 2015, Mario Maker aims turn fan’s dreams into reality by allowing players to build their own Mario levels using a simple drag-and-drop interface using the Wii U Gamepad. The demonstration showed gameplay in both Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros U style.

Splatoon -  A brand new game and IP for Nintendo, Splatoon charts new areas of gameplay, previously unexplored by Nintendo. Splatoon is an 8 player, 4 versus 4 action game, based around territory control,  Territory is controlled by splattering the environment with ink, the two teams have different colors. Players can transform between a human (or something similar) and a squid! Humans fire the ink, whilst squid  can move quickly (or hide) in the ink.
Splatoon makes use of the WiiU Gamepad as a map, to add extra strategy to the gameplay, players can also fly directly to teammates by using the map.

Additional Announcements
