E3 2016 - Space Marines Will Soon Bolster Battlefleet Gothic

Having been lost in the warp for the last month or so, the Emperor’s finest will be arriving soon and in force, here are the details.

No less than five Space Marine chapters make up Battlefleet Gothic: Armada’s Space Marines DLC; the Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, Dark Angles, and Space Wolves – the latter two shown below. And they’ll be arriving on June 21st.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Space Marines DLC Dark Angels

Originally part of Battlefleet Gothic’s pre-order campaign, the Space Marines and upcoming Tau DLC will be free for early adopters – players who reordered, or purchased the game before June 21st. Imperial Fist Space Marines appeared in the single player campaign, as non-playable allies. This DLC will add the five chapters to the multiplayer, which received a patch today adding the ability to invite a co-op partner to AI skirmishes. Full patch notes linked below.

The Space Marine fleets are heavily armoured, best suited to short-range fire fights, and boarding actions – one of their two traits is the ability to target specific subsystems for boarding strikes. Being ageless zealots of the God-Emperor, they are also immune to insubordination.

There are currently no details on how the chapters will manifest; fleet-wide or individual ships, for example. Presumably not in the same manner as other faction’s favours, as there’s no such thing as non-chapter-specific Space Marine ships, to the best of my knowledge.  I’ll keep an eye out; we can apparently expect to learn more of the other chapters soon.
